Сitizen of Ternopil Dmytro Malashchuk engaged in breeding of accelerated rabbits during 3 years. Man equipped the special farm in the village of Mislova, Volochisk district, far away from city noise. Presently he has more than 100 mini-farms, where more than thousand rabbits grow.

"Somehow I've read the article about breeding of accelerated rabbits by the system of the Russian selectionist Ihor Mikhaylovin in one of the internet publishing" Dmytro Malaschuk says.

"I was very interested by that these rabbits can put up weight to 4,5-5 kg of living weight during four months, while ordinary rabbits reach such weight only for seven-eight months. Then I trifled with my friend Oleh Mulyk, that it is worth to engage in «rabbit» business and told about the article. To tell the truth, Oleh treat this idea seriously. He wanted to go to Saint Petersburg   and see with his own eyes how and in what conditions the accelerated rabbits should be breeded. In a month we went to Saint Petersburg on the farm of selectionist Mikhaylov."

Big-eared needs to be loved

Getting on a farm boys were astonished by what they seen. On a territory in one hectare, were situated hundreds of cages with the various breeds of rabbits.

"We both knew not to much about breeding of rabbits," he adds. "The most is that we saw ordinary rabbits once or twice at our neighbors. I am an agriculturist, and Oleh is a legist. We were interested only by the rabbits of such breed, which would be uncapricious in tendance, proof to the infections and put up weight  quickly. A selectionist Ihor Mikhaylov advised us a breed of «White Giant». They have very fluffy fur, good immunity, proof to the different infections and don't need any inoculations."

Boys returned to Ternopil with four impregnated doe-rabbits and four mini-farms. By the way, mini-farm differs from an ordinary cage by a special extraction, which pulls in an unpleasant smell and enables rabbit to breathe in a crisp air which positively influences on their immunity. With the help of such system the meat of rabbit does not have an unpleasant smell, while meat of retro-rabbit is needed to wet in vinegar before preparation in order to get rid from unpleasant smell.

"When we brought rabbits home, we had certain difficulties," remembers Dmytro.

"We did not know how to place mini-farms correctly and how to treat little rabbits. We visited rabbits for 5-6 times a day. Spoke with them, took them in hands. I remember when the first rabbit was need to be cut, we were very sad, bacause we get use to them very much."

Relatives and friends were sneering at us and our «rabbit» business at first, but later they made sure that it brings a good profit. But, probably it nothing went out, if we  don't love our rabbits. Our bussiness brings us not only a profit but also a big satisfaction.
Dmytro Malaschuk feeds his favourites with hay and mixed fodder. By the way, one «White Giant» eats 10 kg of hay and 15 kg of the mixed fodder in a month.  An accelerated rabbits don't ate fresh grass or carrot, because it can harm them, the process of digestion can be violated. In a hay and mixed fodder there are all necessary vitamins which must be in their ration.

«White Giants» are the best

When Dmytro and Oleh had 30 mini-farms, they planned to nave a few more breeds of accelerates. So they obtained black and brown «Rex». These rabbits had a hide, as a teddy bears. Then boys bought rabbits of breed «Silvery» – the color of which reminded a winter hoarfrost, «Viennese Blue» and «Burgundy» with a bright rufus wool.

"All these breeds were brought us from Slovenia by our friends," says selectionist. "They bought them on the special exhibitions. We were pleased at first, that we have rabbits of different breeds. But afterwards made sure, that «White Giants» is the best for business. For example, if doe-rabbit of breed «Viennese Pigeon», will be frightened by someone one time, it can never has an issue anymore. «Rex» is very sensible to the sharp overfalls of temperatures and they need to be held in the closed space all the time. Rufus hide of «Burgundy» is not popular for customers, in fact wear of such color doesn't fit everyone, and repainting of it is impossible. Therefore now we have only «White Giants»."

Meat of accelerated rabbits use large popularity among people. A liver in supermarkets is bought up in a few hours. The point is that there are far more vitamins in meat of eco-rabbit than in an ordinary rabbit 1 kg of such meat costs 50 UAH.

"Meat of «White Giants» can ate even a little children and pregnant women, because it is ecologically clean" Dmytro Malaschuk adds. "We do no inoculations to our rabbits and don't add different chemical additions to their meal."

Now Dmytro and Oleh want to open a workshop of tanning of hides. In the future they plan to sew fur coats, bedspreads and envelopes for babies from rabbit fur.
